Bikoš road tunnel

Project overview

The Bikoš tunnel is one of two tunnels on the northern bypass of Prešov, as part of the R4 expressway. The approximately 1.15 km long tunnel crosses the hill of the same name in the cadastre of Veľký Šariš. The two-pipe tunnel consists of a dug out part and two excavated parts in the vicinity of the portals. Conventional excavation took place in geologically demanding conditions, especially in the section of the southern portal.
